Softwarization and Cloudification in 5G: Enabling Functionality as a Service (FaaS)

Abstract
With the softwarization and cloudification trend, delivery of mobile network control functionalities in 5G can be foreseen as over the top services. In this talk, we focus on the functionalities that are unique to the nature of wireless and mobile including radio resource management and mobility management, and discuss system level and architecture requirements for achieving FaaS platform.
About the speaker
Toktam is Lecturer in Telecommunications at Department of Informatics, King's College London. She is part of the Tactile Internet lab at KCL, and PI & CI in H2020 5GPPP projects. She was visiting research scientist with F5 Networks, in San Jose, CA, in 2013, post-doctoral Research Associate in the ISN research group at EE department of Imperial College in 2010/11, and Mobile VCE researcher, 2006 to 2009. Toktam has also worked in mobile and personal communications industry, from 2002-2006, and in an R&D team on developing DECT standard for WLL applications.
